Quebec Experience Class Program

A foreign citizen who has already worked in or studied in Quebec and who wants to immigrate to Quebec can apply for the Quebec Experience Class.

Students and foreign workers with experience in Quebec will be able to attend the Quebec Experience Class. The Canadian Experience Class provided at the federal level is quite similar, but there are a few differences to be aware of. Your questions can be answered by an immigration lawyer in Canada.

Quebec Experience Class is designed to assist foreign students and workers who have already lived and worked in Quebec in expediting the Canadian immigration process.

As with several other Canadian immigration programs, the process for immigration to Quebec consists of two steps. The provincial government of Quebec manages a program called the Quebec Experience Class for foreign nationals who have worked in the province. It is possible for applicants to qualify both as students and as workers at the same time.

The Quebec government will issue a Quebec Selection Certificate to successful applicants. The next step for those who receive a Quebec Selection Certificate is to apply for a permanent residency visa with the federal government after a final review of their eligibility has taken place.

Canadian permanent residents should submit a Québec Selection Certificate and an application to the Canadian government.

Quebec Experience Class applicants fall into two categories:

1. Temporary workers with skilled jobs in Quebec.
2. Foreign students who graduated from an institution of higher education in Quebec or are enrolled in an esteemed educational program.

Temporary workers applying through Quebec Experience Class should meet the following requirements:

  • 1. Within the last 24 months, the applicant must have worked in Quebec at a managerial, professional, or technical level (above Skill Level C in the NOC) during that time period.
  • 2. Work experience in Quebec should have been based on legal activities.
  • 3. The applicant must have had full-time work experience, with a minimum of 30 hours per week. Under the Quebec Experience Class, part-time employment is not eligible.
  • 4. A minimum age of 18 is required.
  • 5. Applicants must have been working in Québec during the time of their application or maintaining legal status at the time of applying.
  • 6. If the work experience is self-employment and the income earned is equal to a full-time salary, the self-employed person may be eligible under the Quebec Experience class.

Under Quebec Experience Class, foreign students must meet the following conditions:

  • 1. An applicant is required to have a degree or diploma from a province-recognized educational institution.
  • 2. Applicants must have studied for two years or more in Quebec.
  • 3. Applicants need to have proficiency in French which can be proven by a transcript of records or an exam result from an institution recognized by the government of Québec.
  • 4. A minimum age of 18 is required.
