A Temporary visa or Entry Visa is an approval from the Canadian Government that a foreign national can enter Canada. A counterfoil document (like a sticker stamp) attached in the passport that constructs it a legal document for entry in Canada.

Everyone who are neither Citizens or Permanent residents of Canada nor from the visa-exempt countries need a Temporary visa to enter Canada.

Visitor Visa

A Visitor visa is also known as a Temporary Resident Visa, usually valid for upto 6 months. Visitor visa allows you to enter Canada in two ways:

Single Entry: With a single entry you can visit only once.

Multiple Entry: With a Multiple Entry visa, you can enter Canada multiple times as long as your visa is valid.

1. You can stay for 6 months at once and revisit multiple times as long as your visa is valid. It is generally valid for up to 10 years.
2. Study and Work permits are multi-entry visas that allow you to leave and enter Canada during your studies and temporary work in Canada.
3. Unlike Single Entry visitor visa, you don’t need to re-apply for visitor visa on every visit.
4. Once the validity is over, you have to leave the country.
5. If you want to extend the validity, then you have to apply 30 days prior to the expiry date of your visa.
6. If your application is under process and your visa expires, you can continue to live in Canada until a decision comes.

Super Visa

1. The Super Visa allows parents and grandparents of citizens and permanent residents of Canada to live together. (Recently, Canada made changes to the validity of Super Visa holders.)
2. Earlier, it used to be valid for upto 2 years with 10 years of validity. That means Super visa holders can stay for 2 years at one entry. But now the stay time has been increased by three years.
3. Super visa applicants who apply after July 4, 2022 will be in advantage of 5 years stay in a single visit with the same validity of 10 years.
4. But if you have applied before July 4, 2022, and worried about your shorter stay in Canada, do not worry. You can also enjoy this longer stay with your family by extending the stay time.
5. You need to apply for an extension 30 days before the end date of your visa.
6. At entry point, border service officers grant the extension by ensuring that you qualify for the extension.

Who can apply for Super Visa

To go Canada on a Super Visa, you must have a supportive hand for your finances.

1. You will require a letter of invitation from the inviter in Canada (child or grandchild) that promises to support your expenses for the entire visit.
2. You must have a private Health insurance coverage of $100,000 from a Canadian insurance company that is valid for a year.

Business Visitor Visa

A person who wants to migrate to Canada for business purposes, may require a Visitor or TRV visa. Being on a visitor visa, that person cannot apply for any job in Canada because he went for a different purpose on a different visa.

Even if someone gets a job, he cannot begin work in Canada until he is legally eligible. That means he has to apply for a work permit to work in Canada. He can continue living in Canada for as long as the Temporary visa is valid but may have to leave once it expires, even if the work permit application is under process.

Temporary Resident Visa for Students

A TRV is a document that mainly helps you to Canada legally and get your visa. Once you have satisfied all the study visa requirements, you can go to Canada to take your study permit and start the study program.

But until you have a Study Visa, you cannot start studying in Canada. In fact you will not be allowed to enter Canada.

So, a temporary visa helps you enter Canada. If your study visa application gets approved, authorities in Canada by themselves issue you a temporary visa to let you enter Canada.

Who can apply for Temporary Resident Visa?

To allow someone to travel to Canada, one must be fulfilling the basic requirements:

1. A valid document, passport
2. Be in good health
3. No criminal records or prohibition on immigration
4. Strong reasons to prove you will return to your country
5. Have sufficient finances to manage expenses during the stay

Your intention to live in Canada matters the most to the Canadian government. As every visa serves a different purpose, you will have to abide by the laws of your visa being in the country.

Temporary visas limit your stay in Canada. You cannot continue to live in the country unless the validity is extended. So choosing a visa that gives you freedom to live and work anywhere in Canada is always a profitable decision.
