Before 2020, Canada used to send invitations on CRS cut-offs below 500. Since it resumed draws in July 2022, the Express Entry cut-off crossed the mark of 500. But with every Express Entry cut-off, invitations are increasing and the cut-off is decreasing.

But this year, Canada has been inviting candidates with different strategies. With every cut-off, invitations are high, and CRS cut off low.

What is the latest update on Express Entry draws

To make the immigration process easy for immigrants, the Canadian government keeps making changes in the immigration processes. Sometimes, it is through pilot programs, TEER systems, and reducing processing times for applications.

Here are some of the upcoming changes that may affect immigrants in different ways.

  1. Canada has a target of welcoming 432,000 immigrants this year.

  2. As of now, Canada has welcomed 300,000 immigrants. Out of which, 40,785 are from Express Entry alone.

  3. Canada is planning to beat its current record of welcoming immigrants, i.e. 405,330.

  4. So far, 28,039 candidates have received an Invitation to apply through Express Entry.

  5. As per the Canadian immigration minister, new immigration rules will be implemented in 2023 or will be announced with a date soon.

  6. To fill the high-demand jobs future invitations will be based on specific work experience, language skills, or education.

The reason behind this new rule for choosing profiles is the long-term economic planning of Canada. In the next few years, Canada's big part of the population will be at retirement age. To fuel the Canadian economy, Canada needs skilled workers who have skills relevant for 10 / 20 years in the future.

  • Medical examination will not be mandatory for Temporary and Permanent Residence living in Canada. But you have to be eligible as per the criteria to be exempt from Medical examination. This change may impact 180,000 new immigrants in Canada.

The new rule will reduce the processing time and help decrease the application backlogs.

  • The Permanent Residence application process will convert to complete digital mode.

  • In the spring of next year, Canada will add an application status tracker for 7 programs of Permanent and Temporary Residence.

“Immigration is about people. It’s about starting a new job, reuniting a family and creating a new life in this beautiful country we call home. As we look to strengthen our immigration system by updating our technology, people—our clients—must be at the centre of all that we do. By adding resources where they are needed, and leveraging technology to make processing faster and applying easier for our clients, we can give newcomers and new citizens the welcoming experience they deserve.”

Sean Fraser, Immigration Minister, Canada

In the next draw, the CRS cut-off for Express Entry will go below 500. That means not starting now could be a loss of chance to receive an invitation from Canada.

Here is the breakdown of points you can follow, to understand and score above 500.
