What is AIP (Atlantic Immigration Program)

 
Launched as a Pilot Program in 2017, the Atlantic Immigration program is a growth strategy for Eastern Canada. For 2023, AIP is targeting to welcome 8,500 immigrants and 14,500 by the year 2025.
 
The Atlantic Immigration Program in Canada focuses on growing the economy, population and skilled workers in 4 provinces of Canada - Newfoundland & Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. 
 
The AIP program in Canada brought new opportunities for Indians to become permanent residents of Canada. The program covers 4 provinces of the Atlantic region and each province has multiple programs. 
 
International students, Temporary workers, skilled workers and entrepreneurs, everyone can apply for opportunities available in eastern Canada. These provinces have lesser competitive criteria to apply for Permanent Resident. You can apply to any one of the programs based on your matching requirements for the provinces.
 
Each province has different programs to allow immigrants to get Canadian Visas. These programs are mainly divided into a few main streams.

Key points for Atlantic Immigration Program 

 
  • In the AIP program, employers do not need LMIA. 
  • Applicants must have a job offer from the designated employer
  • After finding a suitable candidate for them, employers connect candidates with the Designated settlement service provider organization for the assessment of their needs, to make a settlement plan for immigrants.
  • In most of the AIP programs language scores with CLB 4 or 5 are considered eligible.

  • Minimum three years of Business Ownership experience, or more than 5 years of experience as a Senior Business Manager

  • Must be agreed for capital investment in Nova Scotia worth $150,000 to purchase or establish a business
  • Minimum high school education

  • Must have a full-time job offer for 2 years from an NL employer 
  • Have the required skills, training and education
  • Have a valid Work Permit 
  • Have relevant work experience
  • Must meet minimum language requirements
 
3. International Graduate Category
  • Have completed graduation from the eligible university
  • Have a minimum of two years of diploma or degree program
  • Must have a full-time job offer from NL
  • Have PGWP
  • Must meet minimum language requirements 
 
4. International Entrepreneur Category
  • Must meet language requirements
  • Must have Net Business and Personal Assets worth $600,000
  • Must have 72 points out of 120 in the PNP points assessment grid
  • Must have $200,000 to establish a business with 33.3% ownership ( or $1 million in equity investment )
  • Minimum two years of Business Ownership experience or more than 5 years of experience as a Senior Business Manager
  • Must have high school certification
  • Must create a full-time job for Canadian Permanent Residents or Citizens
 
5. International Graduate Entrepreneur Category
 
  • Must have graduated with a minimum of two years of study program from Memorial University of College of the North Atlantic  
  • Have a valid Post Graduate Work Permit
  • Must have CLB 7 as language score
  • Have at least one year of business managing experience with one-third ownership 
  • Must create a full-time job for Canadian Permanent Residents or Citizens
